Lead Psychologist

Based in Hatay, Lead Psychologists will play a leadership role amongst the psychologists and will be the main focal point for individual sessions and any psychoeducation seminars. S/he will assist psychologists with guidance and on-the-spot support. The lead psychologist provides technical and clinical guidence to psychologists and will be responsible for MHPSS operations in Şanlıurfa, Hatay and Adıyaman.

Key duties are:

Being a part of psychosocial support team by using creative art therapy methodology with children, youth and caregivers.
Taking part in the implementation at different levels such as carrying out the assessment during the intake process; scheduling the sessions/activities; evaluating the impact of the interventions; developing new activities as a member of the MHPSS team.
Conducting comprehensive mental health assessments of children and their families to understand their emotional and psychological needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.
Provide individual counseling and psychotherapy sessions to children and their caregivers, addressing any trauma-related dysfunctions.
Offering psychosocial support to children and their families, considering their cultural and social context to promote coping mechanisms and adaptive strategies.
Conducting group PSS sessions to create a supportive and healing environment.
Developing personalized and culturally sensitive treatment plans based on the assessment findings and in consultation with other mental health professionals.
Conducting psychoeducational sessions for caregivers to raise awareness about trauma, positive parenting or any topic that the beneficiaries may need.
Being prepared to respond to immediate crisis situations and provide timely support to individuals facing acute mental health challenges.
Advocating for the importance of mental health and psychosocial support in any context including disaster and emergency response, raising awareness about the unique needs of affected populations.
Providing mental health and psychosocial support service through individual and group sessions to parents/caregivers and children between 5-24 in need.

Providing individual and group sessions to children and parent trainings to caregivers.
Conducting safety assessments and safety audits when required and in coordination with other child protection actors
With support from the Project Coordinator develop and implement activity plans to achieve expected result
Participating in the program review, design, and implementation plans to identify the beneficiaries and their needs.
Contributing to the overall guidance to the project and providing peer supervision to clinical team for high-quality implementation and results.
Contributing to related technical support in follow up, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the associated project.
Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator ensure that all planned project activities are implemented on time
Where challenges arise, ensure that these are flagged early, communicated to the Project Coordinator to addressed in an appropriate way
Coordinating with the other relevant sectors to ensure activities are integrated and follow best-practices for children
Demonstrating qualities including honesty, kindness, professionalism,non-discrimination, and a commitment to working well in a team whilst staying true to oneself
Any other duties as agreed with the Program Coordinator and Programs Coordinator
Cooperation with other organizations: as being a member of foundation, when assigned, therapist will be joining meetings with other organizations. In addition to this they are expected to be improving themselves and new projects for the foundation related with traumatized children population
Data entry of conducted activities
Representing Maya Vakfı in stakeholder, NGO, INGO etc. meetings if required
Providing any assistance to other projects/programs etc. that is implemented by Maya Vakfı if required

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

MA degree in clinical psychology.
Language:
- Fluent in English – Ability to conduct sessions in English is an asset.
- Arabic is an asset.
Experience in working with children, trauma, loss, refugees and/or other vulnerable groups of people
Minimum 3 year experience in group work as well as individual therapy/counselling
Experience in field work with a NGO (preferred)
Experience of cross-cultural work
Ability to be flexible, work in a fluid context and adaptation for unexpected situations
Flexibility of working of out of office hours.
Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively with others
Communication skills: negotiating, facilitating, and presenting as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
Time management, organization, and work prioritization
Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal management and leadership skills.
Work overtime when required collaborative and cooperative with other related departments.
