Purpose

Execution of all own, more complex tests/productions on seed and plant material, according to precise regulations and protocols, directions and/or instructions, to establish (product) quality data and/or as part of research programmes

Key accountabilities

1. Independent execution and assessment of all own, more complex tests/productions and the administrative processing thereof.
2. Recording of all routine results of the department/crop/productions in designated systems, signalling abnormalities and proposing solutions.
3. Correct use and maintenance of all equipment, and troubleshooting of all common malfunctions.
4. Reading, understanding, interpreting, applying and selecting all protocols for the tests/productions to be executed, signalling errors and proposing improvements.

5. Planning of own daily activities , as well as overseeing the overall progress of the department/crop/productions. Taking the initiative with possible bottlenecks in planning and informing Laboratory Technician Level 5 / Team Lead / Process Supervisor.
6. Induction and functional coaching of lower level Laboratory Technicians and interns.
7. Co-responsible for a healthy and safe work environment.

Minimum Working and Thinking Level:

Advanced secondary vocational level (MBO+, Associate's degree)

Minimum Years of Relevant Work Experience:

3 to 5 years

Required Certifications, Knowledge and Skills:

* Ability to work with all relevant systems/basic equipment
* Ability to work with different crops and chemicals in the prescribed and safe manner
* Proficient in the local and English language, both written and verbal

Working Conditions:

* Occasionally works under time pressure
* Occasionally unvarying/strenuous posture
* Risk of injury when using chemical/toxic substances
